A one-day orientation session aimed at raising startup awareness among students was organized at the ICAR - Indian Institute of Spices Research on December 6th, 2024. The program, organized by the Agribusiness Incubator of IISR, provided a platform for students to share their entrepreneurial ideas and explore the opportunities available to them. Over 40 students from colleges across Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad, Malappuram, and Kozhikode districts participated in the session, offering insights into their ideas and receiving guidance from experts. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. T.E. Sheeja, Head, Division of Crop Improvement & Biotechnology, IISR. The sessions were headed by Roni K. Roy, Senior Technology Fellow at Kerala Startup Mission, Preethi M., CEO, Technology Business Incubator at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, and Adv. Manju A.B., among others. The speakers provided advice on various aspects of entrepreneurship, including relevance of intellectual property rights, availability of incubation facilities, and funding opportunities, encouraging students to pursue their startup ventures. Scientists from IISR Dr. Sajeesh V.K and Dr. Maneesha S.R, interacted with the students, offering guidance on research and development in the domain.
